Mentoring organisation Informatics Ventures, which runs the annual Engage, Invest, Exploit (EIE) conference in Edinburgh, said the London event will give the featured firms the chance to meet and pitch to more than 100 investors.

The showcase, to take place at Canada House on Trafalgar Square, will mark the third instalment of EIE London and, for the first time, will include start-ups from elsewhere in the UK and Europe.

FanDuel co-founder Lesley Eccles will make a keynote speech at the conference, along with angel investor Sherry Coutu and Scottish Investment Bank head Kerry Sharp.

Each of the 12 companies attending will be seeking funding of more than £1.5 million to scale and grow their businesses, and among the Scottish firms making the trip will be Appointedd, Swipii, Shot Scope, Mallzee and My1Login.

Steve Ewing, programme manager at Informatics Ventures, said: “More than just the latest buzzword, scaling is at the heart of this year’s EIE London and it’s fantastic to have some of the leading lights in this area at Canada House on the day.

“Most importantly, the young companies featured at EIE London get invaluable guidance and contacts for the future as they look to scale their own businesses.”
