The body of a woman who went missing from a smell village on Shetland has been found after an island-wide search by police diving units and fellow Shetlanders.

A body was found during a search in the Laxo area of Shetland, which has since been identified as that of Lorraine Grains, who has been missing since Thursday.

The next of kin of 43-year-old Lorraine, who was from the area near the village of Vidlin, have been made aware, police have confirmed.

The body was recovered during searches by a Dive and Marine Unit from Police Scotland.

Inspector Martyn Brill said: “Our thoughts are with Lorraine’s family and friends at this very sad time.

“I would like to take the opportunity to thank the partner agencies and members of the public who have helped with our enquires and search activity.

“There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
