A stag roams a field near Dalwhinnie in the Highlands as winter weather arrives and blankets the land with snow and ice. During the cold months, deer venture down from their higher summer ground in search of food to sustain them until spring arrives. In winter, deer can spend most of the day looking for food and are often tempted by tree bark and crops. Efforts by landowners, farmers and even gardeners to deter them are not always successful.
