Harry Potter actor helps sick kids dreams come true

200 children experienced the holiday of a lifetime and Harry Potter star Matthew Lewis was there to make sure it was magical.

The annual Dreamflight jet, the British Airways charity flight, embarked on its break to Florida being seen off by Neville Longbottom as well as TV presenter Konnie Huq.

The flight takes hand-picked children who have battled with serious illnesses, disabilities or trauma and will visit a host of attractions, including Sea World, Disney World and Universal Studios.

Plastic bag use drops by 650 million

One year on since the single use carrier bag charge was introduced in Scotland, the number being used has dropped by around 80 per cent. More than 650 million fewer bags were used over the past year compared to 2013/14.

The 5p charge has also raised a staggering £6.7 million for good causes over the past 12 months.

20 per cent of people have never been online

In the rural regions of the Highlands and Islands, 1 in 5 people have no access to the internet, creating a postcode lottery in terms of online infrastructure, access and skills.

In a new report, communities in the northern parts of Scotland have been highlighted as the least connected in the UK. Seven of the local authority regions are in danger of being left behind, prompting warnings that entire communities may be being held back.

Who are the wealthiest Scottish Business people?

Scotland is now home to a record high of nine billionaires, according to the Sunday Times Rich List. From retail, food production, the energy sector and property, who are these wealthy people who call Scotland home?

At the top of the list are the Grant/ Gordon family. Head of the business which produce the single malt whisky Glenfiddich, and descendants of founder William Grant, the family-run business has amassed the sum of £1.9bn in this year’s list.
