Kennedy’s previous attempts to take control of the club, after it had entered administration, caused him to eventually link up with Paul Murray and the Blue Knights consortium, however they were thwarted by Charles Green and administrators Duff and Phelps. Souness however admitted that Kennedy could still be keen, he said: “If the circumstances are right again I think he’d have another go.”

“If he was to ask me again I would most certainly be involved. There seems to be warring factions which can never be good for any club You just want the best and I think the best would be somebody gets a hold if that football club who has genuine Rangers interest at heart. We need some Rangers people in there who are there for the right reason.”
