Virtue Recruitment Services, which provides temporary drivers for heavy-goods vehicles, said it has 40 drivers on its books and has attracted six major blue-chip companies.

The firm was established by Stuart Craig and Jody MacMillan, who have more than 20 years’ experience in haulage.

The Scottish office of cashflow and funding business Ultimate Finance provided the finance facility along with bad-debt protection, letting the recruiter draw down 90 per cent of the value of the invoice within 24 hours of it being issued to the client.

Craig said that without this facility, and with companies taking up to 90 days to pay and its drivers being paid weekly, “we would not have been able to cover the cost in the interim and the business wouldn’t have got off the ground”.
