Bosses said that the arrival in the past year of a number of popular restaurants and an Odeon cinema had contributed to demand for extra staff at the site.

The opening of a Primark store has also helped fuel the jobs boom by creating at least 220 additional vacancies for the festive season.

The news comes hot on the heels of recent figures that revealed more than 1,000 jobs were created at Fort Kinnaird in six months due to expansion and extended opening hours.

Liam Smith, regional centre manager, said: “This has been a fantastic year as we have welcomed a number of exciting new shopping and eating brands and the Odeon Cinema. With Primark opening in December, and the success of our extended opening hours, we are anticipating a record Christmas.”
