Edinburgh Rugby’s Tom Brown to miss 1872 Cup return leg

EDINBURGH Rugby will make just two changes to the starting XV to face Glasgow Warriors at Scotstoun in the return leg of the 1872 Cup on Saturday.

Damien Hoyland starts on the left wing, replacing Tom Brown who has sustained a shoulder injury, while Ben Toolis is picked to start at lock ahead of his brother Alex.

Alasdair Dickinson, Grant Gilchrist, Will Helu, Nasi Manu, Stuart McInally, Fraser McKenzie, Jade Te Rure and Hamish Watson remain sidelined due to injuries.

Sam Hidalgo-Clyne and Phil Burleigh will continue at half-back while Dougie Fife will stay on the right wing for his 75th appearance as an Edinburgh player.

Try-scorer Matt Scott and Michael Allen are kept as the centre pairing while Jack Cuthbert holds onto the 15 jersey.

Mike Coman will captain the squad from blindside, with Cornell Du Preez at no 8 and John Hardie, scorer of Edinburgh’s second try last Sunday at openside.

Anton Bresler will partner Toolis at lock and the front row of WP Nel, Rory Sutherland and Ross Ford is retained.

Edinburgh go into the second leg with a 12-point advantage, and currently lie fifth in the Guinness PRO12 table - two points ahead of Glasgow in seventh.

Head coach Alan Solomons is fully aware of the task facing Edinburgh at Scotstoun on Saturday.

Solomons said: “We appreciate the challenge we face this weekend and are preparing accordingly.”
