Male stingray heads for ‘blind date’ at Deep Sea World
A male stingray travelled over 400 miles from the south coast of England for a blind date with a pair of females at Deep Sea World, Scotland’s national aquarium.
The stingray was transported by road inside his own specially-adapted tank from the Blue Reef Aquarium in Portsmouth to the North Queensferry wildlife attraction.
After spending time in quarantine the ray, which measures 40cm, was released in to the aquarium’s 4.5 million litre Underwater Safari to meet his potential new dates.
Deep Sea World’s Michael Morris said: “He’s a fantastic looking specimen and there were no problems getting him up here. The challenge now will be to get him interested in the females.”
