Dundee United reject bid for Gary Mackay-Steven
The 24-year-old is in the final year of his contract but, with Ryan Gauld departed, manager Jackie McNamara will not cash in on the Scotland cap.
McNamara, who would not reveal the bidders, told STV yesterday: “We had a bid for him yesterday but it was rejected. That’s as far as it is at the moment.

Hide Ad“I’ve spoken to Gary about it and said to him that I want to keep him here even though he’s going to walk away for nothing next year.
“I don’t think the offer was good enough for him or for the club.”
Meanwhile, Jaroslaw Fojut last night insisted he is over his Celtic disappointment and is ready to be a hit for Dundee United.
The Pole is thrilled to have signed for Jackie McNamara’s men and can’t wait to star in the SPFL, just two years after his switch to Parkhead fell through due to a cruciate knee injury sustained while playing for former club Slask Wroclaw.
Fojut, 26, was gearing up to join the Hoops having signed a pre-contract with Neil Lennon’s men in January 2012 until he suffered the injury which forced Celtic to cancel the contract.
But former Bolton, Slask and Tromso centre-half Fojut has since bounced back and he has told fans he is on a mission to become a favourite with them in the new season. He said: “I don’t like to talk about it very much. The deal fell through and that was it – nothing more. It’s in the past. It’s the best thing for me to sign for Dundee United. It was a good lesson for me the six months I was out injured.
“I’m not trying to be funny but, as a wise guy once said, ‘it’s not just about the success you get, it’s more about how you rise up after you’ve fallen down’.
“It was a good lesson for me and my family. I look back at that more from the bright side than the dark side. I don’t think I need to show anyone that I can play here in Scotland. I am a confident player. I just want to show Dundee United fans and the manager that they can trust me in the team.
