Human remains found in house in Montrose

Police Scotland have confirmed that remains, which are believed to be human, have been found at a residential property in the Market Street area of Montrose, Angus.

A man has been detained and is assisting police with their enquiries.

A police statement read: “Officers attended at the address at around 11.55pm last night as part of an ongoing missing person enquiry and have found what is believed to be human remains.

“The investigation into the circumstances is in the very early stages of establishing who the remains belong to and how that person died.

Our enquiries have taken us to a number of address in the Montrose area where there is likely to be a police presence for some considerable time.”
