Gretna retail village hails new trading milestone

A shopping outlet village in Dumfries & Galloway that is home to the likes of Berghaus, Molton Brown and Polo Ralph Lauren and has announced its seventh consecutive year of record trading figures.

Bosses at Gretna Gateway Outlet Village also hailed the busiest ever Christmas week with visitor numbers up 6 per cent on 2014 and sales 7 per cent ahead.

Figures released yesterday reveal that total sales for the 12 months up to 27 December rose 12 per cent on a year earlier. Like-for-like sales, which strip out the impact of changes in selling space and new stores, were up by 3 per cent.

General manager Peter Gardner said: “As well as bringing exciting shopping opportunities, we are now a major source of employment in the area.”
