David Clarkson re-signs for Motherwell
Clarkson joins team-mates such as Keith Lasley, Steven Hammell and Stephen Pearson in moving back to the club. Previous returning players have also included James McFadden, John Sutton and Scott McDonald.
The 29-year-old was on trial at Motherwell last summer but failed to win a deal from Stuart McCall, before going on to score in his first eight games for Dundee. But he only scored once more all season and was released at the end of the campaign. Clarkson hit 56 goals in his first spell at Motherwell before signing for Bristol City in a £700,000 deal in 2009.

“I had a meeting with the gaffer and the staff and they told me their philosophies and the way they want to take the club forward and that is something I want to be part of.
“Pre-season is the start of it all and hopefully I can do well and at the start of the season we will see what happens but first and foremost I want to get my feet in the door, get to know some of the new lads and then hopefully get some time on the pitch.”
McDonald could still return again with Ian Baraclough looking for two more strikers to add to Clarkson and Craig Moore following the confirmed departures of Lee Erwin and Sutton.
Manager Baraclough said: “Scott’s one we have been talking to. Scott will have options elsewhere, everything has got to fit within the budget but Scott is one I have kept in touch with.”
