Dave King applies to become Rangers director
King was a director at Ibrox when oldco Rangers went into administration and then liquidation in 2012.
Under the rules of the Insolvency Act, it is forbidden for directors to take up a formal post with a new company which has the same or a similar name as the previous incarnation.

Hide AdA public notice read: “Notice is hereby given that a petition has been presented to the Court of Session by David Cunningham King, for leave, under section 216(3) of the Insolvency Act (a) to be a director of Rangers International Football Club plc and (b) to be concerned or take part in the management of The Rangers Football Club Limited.”
The South Africa-based businessman gained control of the club at a EGM two weeks ago as King, along with Paul Murray and John Gilligan, were voted on to the Ibrox board by a 85 per cent majority.
Any new appointments to the Rangers board would also need to be sanctioned by the Scottish Football Association which would apply its “fit and proper person” criterion. It would be the job of the SFA board to rule on the suitability of the applicants.
Stuart McCall, meanwhile, has revealed Rangers are paying towards the wages their loan players from Newcastle receive – even though two of them won’t play for the club at all.
The Rangers manager admitted Gael Bigirimana will not feature during his stay in Glasgow because of an undisclosed medical condition. He also believes Shane Ferguson is at least two months from reaching full fitness and the regular season ends six weeks today.
While Haris Vuckic – who has appeared seven times and scored three goals – is available again, Kevin Mbabu and Remie Streete are at least a fortnight from being considered.
Even then, Mbabu and Streete have both spent long periods out this term and it’s is unlikely they will play much more than a handful of games between them. Rangers are not paying whole salaries to the players who came from Mike Ashley’s Magpies squad but are shelling out a hefty percentage and that alone is likely to infuriate fans.
The club last night maintained contributions are only partial but speaking in to the media yesterday lunchtime, McCall said: “Yes, the club is paying for them.

Hide Ad“Young Bigi is a smashing lad but he has a medical condition that our consultant is dealing with. He won’t play for us this season.
“Ferguson won’t be up with us for another couple of weeks. By then he will have been out for five to six months so he’ll likely need another six weeks to get anywhere near being available.
“I don’t think Kevin or Remie have played lots of football over the past two years so we didn’t have guys coming in who were hitting the ground running, being ready to play.”
