Industry veteran Jamal Rushdy joins the Glasgow-based firm from US biologics outfit Tornier, where he was most recently vice-president of US sales operations.

He succeeds previous chief business officer Geoff Bennett, who will continue as an executive director of Aim-quoted Collagen and as managing director and chief executive of its Southern Lights Biomaterials arm, based in New Zealand. Bennett will also continue to lead the group’s business development efforts in Asia.

White said: “Jamal will bring a wealth of sector-specific business acumen and creativity to Collagen Solutions.

“His experience in the industry is second to none and we are delighted he will be joining us as at this exciting time in our growth and will be charged with growing our sales operations across the globe.”

White added: “We are at a key point in our growth where increased business development is critical and Jamal is well positioned to drive this forward.”

In September, Collagen struck a deal to buy a product used to repair minor damage to knee joints. The acquisition of the assets and intellectual property of ChondroMimetic came as the firm seeks to grow to a £100 million business within the next five years.
