Bilel Mohsni ‘phoned his mum’ after Tunisia snub

BILEL Mohsni has denied reports that he plans to quit Tunisia’s Africa Cup of Nations quest - but outed himself as a mummy’s boy.

The Rangers defender stormed out of the Carthage Eagles’ dressing room after Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Cape Verde, when he was an unused sub.

Eyewitnesses claimed Mohsni was speaking on his mobile about walking out on the tournament in Equatorial Guinea, but the centre-back insisted he was simply phoning his mum for consolation after being left out by Tunisia coach Georges Leekens.

Mohsni, 27, said: “It’s true I am frustrated, but there is no way that I said I wanted to leave the team and go home.

“I simply phoned my mother to get some comfort.

“I always call her when things aren’t going well for me.

“I am annoyed that I didn’t get to play against Cape Verde.

“I have come to the Nations Cup finals to play in matches. But I respect the coach’s decisions.”

Mohsni has made four appearances for Tunisia, and made his debut against South Korea in a 1-0 win in May 2014.
