Bay City Rollers tickets sell out in three minutes

ROLLERMANIA is officially alive and well after their comeback gig sold out within a record-breaking three minutes.

Bay City Rollers reunion and announce a very special Christmas present to all the fans that have kept the faith with the band over the years.

The frantic scramble saw the Bay City Rollers’ reunion performance in Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom on December 20 sell out almost immediately as fans snapped up 1,900 tickets.

So great was the demand that organisers organised a second performance the following night which also sold out, this time within half an hour.

The band, who announced their comeback tour last week, will now perform for a third night on December 23.

Promoter Mark Mackie of Regular Music refused to rule out the possibility that this would also be sold out before the end of the day.

He said: “Fingers crossed it will. Rollermania is alive and well. The vibe out there is incredible but even we didn’t expect it to sell quite so well. We have been pleasantly shocked and this will open up doors all over the word.”

Tickets for the show at The Barrowlands by the 1970s superstars went on sale at 9am, and sold out in a record three minutes.

Immediately, concert promoters Regular Music, made the decision to add two additional nights .

Three of the “classic five” – Les McKeown, Alan Longmuir and Stuart Wood – announced at Glasgow’s Grand Central Hotel earlier this week they would be releasing a new album and a reunion world tour after a long and acrimonious split in 1978 when McKeown decided to go it alone.

Longmuir, who recently starred in the Fringe show And I Ran with the Gang, said: “It’s like going back in time and it will be fun.

“We have never lost our female fanbase. They are very passionate and we have a few new ones now too. As far as the world tour goes, we will definitely go to Japan and America, and Germany and Sweden where we are very big. We have had a lot of offers over the years and we don’t want to knock this one back.”
