Up until the 50th minute, there was nothing between the teams, with Formartine, the ambitious Highland League leaders, well in contention for a last-four berth.

The two sides were evenly matched before the break, with Annan having marginally the better of the few half-chances on offer. However, just five minutes into the second half, all Formartine’s good work came undone. MacKay burst through on goal and as he tried to round Shearer, he was brought to the ground.
The goalkeeper was shown a straight red card and after a lengthy delay while the substitute keeper, John Calder, got himself prepared, Ally Love slammed home from the penalty spot.
After that the roof caved in for the visitors.
Substitute Kieran Brannan drilled home a low angled strike in 73 minutes and MacKay kept his cool six minutes later to lash a shot high into the net after Calder could only parry his initial effort back into his path.
David Hopkirk finished off the scoring with a tap-in five minutes from the end.
