Ally McCoist in no mood to get rid of Mohsni

RANGERS manager Ally McCoist has no intention of trying to ­offload troubled defender Bilel Mohsni, despite the Tunisian international’s latest disciplinary meltdown which has ruled him out of the Ibrox club’s first two competitive matches of the ­season against Hibs and Hearts.

Mohsni was sent off during Saturday’s 2-0 friendly defeat at Derby County for a retaliatory head-butt on Scotland striker Chris Martin, his actions branded as “indefensible” by McCoist.

The English FA reported the incident to the Scottish FA yesterday, meaning Mohsni will now sit out tonight’s Petrofac Training Cup first-round tie against Hibs and Sunday’s opening Championship fixture against Hearts, both at Ibrox.

It is Mohsni’s third dismissal as a Rangers player and he also had a poor disciplinary record in English football with Southend United and Ipswich Town before moving to Glasgow 12 months ago.

The 27-year-old has been the subject of transfer ­speculation this summer with the Abu Dhabi-based Baniyas club ­reportedly having two bids for the player rejected. McCoist remains keen to retain the services of Mohsni, who scored 11 goals in 37 appearances during his debut season with Rangers, and
