Gary Notman, who joined in 2013 as business development director, had a 25 per cent stake in the business and has now acquired founder Fred Nicol’s 75 per cent holding.

PTS, established in 2007, rents, sells and calibrates pressure testing equipment. It has also diversified to include hazardous area equipment rental in addition to the supply of pumps, flushing units, hose reelers and hammer unions.

The firm is based at the Denmore Industrial Estate in Bridge of Don and employs eight people. In 2014 it generated more than £1.9 million in turnover.

Notman said: “I am delighted to have completed the deal and thank Fred for the vital role he has played in the story of PTS so far. This represents the next chapter and myself and the team look forward to the challenges ahead.

“When I first invested in PTS, the potential was clear. Since then I have seen at first hand the expertise and knowledge within the business, both of which will be central to our plans for the future.”
