Video: Dangerous overtaking almost causes crash

DASHCAM video footage has caught the moment a car nearly crashed headfirst into an oncoming van during a dangerous overtaking move.

The footage was captured on the A98 Fraserburgh to Banff road.

The driver of the blue Vauxhall Astra attempts the near-disastrous overtake of a lorry at a bend, narrowly avoiding the van on the other side of the road.

The footage was captured by the lorry’s dashcam on the A98 road between Fraserburgh and Banff in Aberdeenshire on Friday afternoon.

Sharing the video on his Facebook page, the lorry driver, who did not want to be named, spoke of his disgust at the driver’s actions.

The footage was captured on the A98 Fraserburgh to Banff road.

He said: “Anyone know this idiot? Death wish or what.”

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “This incident had not been reported to the police but we will look into it.

“If members of the public have concerns over dangerous driving, they should report it to the police in the first instance.

“They can call the police on 101.”
