Total fined over £1m for North Sea platform leak
Oil giant Total has just been fined more than a million pounds following a gas leak on a North Sea platform.
The Elgin platform was evacuated after parts of a well failed and gas started spewing from the rig.
Seven men fled from the well in fear of their lives following the incident in March 2012.
Total was fined £1,125,000 pounds in court today.
