Aberdeen-based Glencraft, which supplies mattresses to hotels including Gleneagles, and The Bonham in Edinburgh, is a social enterprise with about 80 per cent of its 45 staff disabled or disadvantaged.

It said it is looking to work with retailers to grow across the north-east and beyond, and its general manager Graham McWilliam said the company believes teaming up with “other well-respected and trusted independent stockists is a way in which we can further grow awareness of our brand, the products we offer and our heritage”.

Celebrations of Turriff boss Robert Stephen said: “I was hugely inspired when I visited Glencraft’s factory – the level of craftsmanship that goes into making each and every bed is admirable.”
