Peterhead murder probe: man arrested

A man has been arrested and a murder investigation launched after the body of a male was found at a Peterhead address on Sunday.

Police Scotland have confirmed that a 44-year-old man has been arrested following the suspicious death in the King Street area of Peterhead.

The man who died is thought to be a Lithuanian national.

Detective Inspector Brian Geddes said: “Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full facts of what has happened.

“We would appeal to anyone and particularly those within the Lithuanian community in Peterhead who may have information to make contact with us on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.”

Officers were called to the King Street flat at around 8am on Sunday and a male was found

deceased.

There was still a heavy police presence on King Street on Monday morning as officers continued to carry out their investigation.

The 44-year-old man is expected to appear at Peterhead Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
