Waitrose is removing a range of cheesecake from its shelves due to fears of contamination.

The supermarket's own-brand New York Cheesecake has been recalled due the possibility that it may contain very thin strands of plastic, which makes this product unsafe to eat.

The recall of the dessert, which comes in a pack size of 540g, applies to product with all ‘Use by’ dates up to and including March 6 2018.

Waitrose has advised anyone having bought the product not to eat it, instead, returning it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.
