VE Day celebrations with artistic twist for families with children

ARTventurers had its own VE Day 75 sessions and events planned for May but it is transferring the #artventurersfun online instead and invite everyone to join in for a free creative family festival-style event at home.

In true ARTventurers-style the organisation is going to be encouraging children of all ages to get creative – decorating their homes and gardens to commemorate this special day.

“If the weather’s great and you have a garden, pitch a tent for the full on festival vibe or build a den at home,” said a spokesman.

“We’re also going to be running a free programme of online sessions during the course of the day of Friday May 8 with lots of our favourite children’s activities providers taking part so that you can enjoy a fun-packed festival timetable.

“We’ve got a Festival Pack that you can access to receive in the run-up to the event with loads of free VE Day printables and child-friendly ideas to really create a memorable day.

“As we keep saying during this time, let’s keep our kids calm and creative.“But let’s also whilst we are apart, come together to commemorate all those men and women who made such sacrifices for us all. Let’s make VE Day 75 an event our children will always remember.”

ARTventurers have been running art classes for babies, toddlers and children since 2011 and every week hundreds of children join in with a unique brand of colourful, creative fun across the UK.

The aim of all of the ARTventurers sessions is to nurture and develop a child’s creativity by providing them with the opportunities, guidance, inspiration and materials.

Anyone can join in the VE Day anniversary fun.

The spokesman added: “Invite all of your friends and family to join in and share all of your photos of the build up and the day itself with us all on social media using the hashtag #thebigneighbourhoodVEdayathome.

“Just remember – this is an online and at home event!

“We must all stay at home and stay safe during this time and follow the government advice – this is an event designed so that we can all celebrate with our children together whilst staying apart. We can’t wait to celebrate with you all!”
