But if you did turn a year older during lockdown, Krispy Kreme is offering some sweet compensation - free doughnuts for everyone who had a birthday in lockdown.
How do I claim my birthday doughnut?
If your birthday fell between 23 March and 3 July, you are entitled to claim the freebie from Krispy Kreme.
Customers simply need to show a passport or driving licence when visiting a Krispy Kreme shop to get an original glazed doughnut free of charge.
However, the offer does come with a catch - you need to buy something to get it.
Krispy Kreme says you must spend a minimum of £1.55 in its stores, and you have until 19 July to take advantage of the freebie.
To find your nearest store visit the Krispy Kreme website.
Easing out of lockdown
The majority of shops, pubs and restaurants across the UK are now reopening, but it will be mandatory to wear face coverings in shops in England from Friday 24 July.
In Scotland, face masks have been mandatory in shops since 10 July.

Children under 11 and those with certain disabilities will be exempt from wearing face coverings in shops, much like they are on public transport.
