The remaining four episodes will air at the same time on the same channel every Thursday night.

They are called 'Promortyus', 'The Vat of Acid Episode', 'Childrick of Mort' and 'Star Mort Rickturn of the Jerri'.

Controller of E4 Karl Warner said: "The genius of Rick and Morty is back on E4 and only a few days after the US transmission."

Why was the season split?

Rick and Morty’s fourth season arrived with the tagline “half the season you deserve, all the season you can handle”, referring to the fact that it would be split into two parts consisting of five episodes each.

The same tactic has been employed by Netflix for the final season of another acclaimed animated show with a talent for dark humour – Bojack Horseman.

The first half of its final season arrived on 25 October 2019; Channel 4’s initial plan was to make UK viewers wait for the entirety of Season 4 to be available, but the reaction to this news was so outraged that the date was brought forward, shifting the show to E4 in the process.

Will there be more seasons of Rick and Morty?

After season four is finished, Rick and Morty fans can take comfort in the fact that another 60 episodes have already been paid for, so they should have plenty of strange space adventures to enjoy in the coming years.

What can we expect from episode 6?

Since the latest episode of Rick and Morty has already been aired in the States, reviewers there have had a chance to get their eyes on it.

It seems UK fans are in for a treat when it airs here later this week.

"Rick and Morty has always been a meta show," say Den of Geek, "but no episode of the series has been more meta and, quite frankly, more insane than “Never Ricking Morty.”

"This episode isn’t just about meta contextual commentary on plot – the meta contextual commentary on the plot is the plot. I know that makes absolutely no sense."

Essentially, the new episode is an anthology episode with Rick and Morty trying to take control of a mysterious train in space where everyone wants to tell stories about Rick.

But we'll probably just have to see it for ourselves to make total sense of it.
