Those who are vulnerable or currently self-isolating during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic can now get Morrisons groceries delivered by Deliveroo.

The supermarket chain has partnered with the food delivery company in order to aid those in need. Deliveroo drivers will drop food at the door, without the recipient having to leave the house.

Here’s how the scheme works.

What is the new delivery service?

The ongoing UK lockdown has seen a drastic shortage in both click and collect and delivery slots across all major UK supermarkets.

However, this new service promises to deliver groceries from Morrisons to your door within 30 minutes.

Customers will be able to order from a limited range of 70 items, including chopped tomatoes, onions, bread, and chicken breasts.

It is available from 130 Morrisons branches in the UK. If you are living near enough to one of the participating Morrisons, you will be able to get groceries from the store delivered, through either the Deliveroo app or website.

How do I place an order?

In order to get a delivery, you need to simply type your postcode into the Deliveroo app or website, then select the grocery option towards the top of the screen. After that, you will be able to see what’s available in your area.

How much does delivery cost?

If you don’t already have a Deliveroo Plus account - which costs £11.49 a month and includes free delivery - then the delivery cost will be an extra £4.99.

How will I get my delivery?

The deliveries will be left at your front door, so contact with the driver is minimised.

Ajay Lakhwani, Deliveroo’s VP of new business, said, “With families and vulnerable people in isolation, it is more important than ever that we make sure they have access to the essential household items they need.

“During this worrying period, we want to play our role in making sure people have access to a range of items, in particular the vulnerable who cannot leave their homes.”

Has Deliveroo partnered with any other supermarkets?

Deliveroo has also partnered with Marks & Spencer. This, like the new Morrisons delivery service, has allowed customers to get essential items like bread, milk and fresh vegetables delivered to their house.
