Throughout April there will be a treasure hunt and street entertainment to help Lanark celebrate its launch of Totally Locally Lanark, and a covered market.

“This is a chance for locals to discover Lanark’s great independently owned shops and businesses, and the real difference they make to our town,” said Totally Locally Lanark organiser, Jim McCreadie of Clyde Valley Pet Retreat.

“It’s been great to work with so many enthusiastic local businesses owners to create this for Lanark. We’re really excited about where this will lead, and know that the launch day is the start of something new for all of us. Within the Lanark Business Group itself we’ve all started to do business with each other more.”

Lanark is the latest of many towns across the UK to take up the Totally Locally campaign. This free initiative supports Lanark’s independently owned traders to show the value of local shopping and its benefits for the local economy. Many of the shops, businesses and stalls will have special offers - highlighting Totally Locally’s message that if everyone in Lanark spent just £5 a week in local independent shops, it would bring an extra £2 million into the town’s economy every year.

“Totally Locally has had a big impact on the towns that have run the campaign. We are confident that it can do the same for Lanark. We have a wealth of wonderful shops here and Totally Locally Lanark will highlight the hidden gems right on our

doorstep,” said: Jim McCreadie.
