Zoo chairman praised as he stands down from position

THE chairman of Edinburgh Zoo has announced he is to step down from the position.

Manus Fullerton will remain on the board of the Royal Zoological Society Scotland, while current vice-chair Jeremy Peat will become chairman.

Zoo chief executive Hugh Roberts said Mr Fullerton deserved praise.

He said: “I cannot speak too highly of Manus, who has been a superb chair and who has helped steer the organisation through some recent troubled times to far more secure and stable shores.

“His involvement in pivotal moments over the last 12 months, including the final negotiations for the arrival of the pandas, his appointment of both the interim and permanent CEOs, his leading us towards being a more streamlined business-focused organisation, has been invaluable and we are in a much better place thanks to his guidance.”
