Youths on flyover badly damage bus on A90 below

A BUS was badly damaged after metal signs were thrown by vandals on to the vehicle from a flyover on a busy Scottish dual carriageway, it was revealed yesterday.

The incident at the Brechin flyover on the A90 Dundee to Aberdeen trunk road was the second at the flyover in three days. And Tayside Police believe the same group of youths may be responsible.

A spokeswoman for Tayside Police said: "Officers in Angus are investigating an incident on the A90 Aberdeen to Dundee Road at around 8pm on 15 January.

"A bus travelling on the road near the Brechin bypass was badly damaged after metal signs were thrown from the flyover.

"The signs, which have metal spikes attached, had been stolen from Brechin Golf Club. The bus had extensive damage."

The bus was taking a party of bowlers back to Edinburgh from a match in Aberdeen. No-one on board was injured.

In another incident over the same weekend a group of youths stole 20 rakes from bunkers on the golf course, before throwing some of them off the flyover on to the dual carriageway.

The force spokeswoman said: "The suspicion is that the two incidents are linked."

She added: "These incidents could have caused a serious road accident, if not a fatal one."
