Youth group is recognised

A MIDLOTHIAN youth group made up of young people from Poland, Malawi and Dubai has won the 2010 Young Scot Award for Cultural Diversity.

International Bright Young Sparks was honoured for its work in ensuring that young people from the black and minority ethnic population have the opportunity to participate in local democratic processes.

Peter Boyes, Midlothian Council cabinet member for education and communities, said: "This prestigious award is well-deserved."
