Youth forum on table to advise council

A PERMANENT forum for young people to contribute to decision-making in Edinburgh could be set up later this year.

The Citywide Youth Issues Forum would meet six times a year for youngsters to give views on how the city should be run. Meetings would alternate between young-people-only, and meetings with councillors and officials.

It would include representatives of youth groups, student councils, Youngedinburgh and Edinburgh Young Scot groups. Members would give an annual presentation to the city's full council on the forum's progress.

Young people have been invited to the City Chambers on Friday afternoon to give their views on the proposals and other ways they could contribute to official decision making in Edinburgh.

Friday's meeting is part of a city consultation programme. Youth workers are consulting the young people they work with about the proposals, and the results will go to the youth services advisory committee in March.
