Youth faces charge over fatal attack

A 19-year-old man was arrested yesterday after a 23-year-old man died following an assault.

The victim had been attacked in Hamilton in the early hours of yesterday morning. He died later from his injuries in Hairmyres Hospital.

Police were called to the incident in the East Wellbrae Crescent area at about 3.55am. They have opened an investigation and a post mortem examination is due to take place. The victim had not been named, as police were still trying to contact his relatives.

The 19-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court.
