Youth charity gets £1000 shopping spree

A CHARITY that helps children and young people with disabilities has received goods worth £1000 from John Lewis.

The shopping spree, donated to Barnado's Scotland, was part of a fundraising initiative, "blag-it", which sees companies offer goods that can be sold or auctioned in order to raise funds, or be used in charitable projects.

Barnardo's Scotland's Caern Project was chosen to receive the dontation, which included curtains, toys and DVDs. Edinburgh-based Caern House offers overnight breaks for children and young people with learning and complex disabilities who live across the Capital,

Isabel McLaren, from Caern, said: "We're very lucky and pleased to have been given this donation by John Lewis Edinburgh. I was made very welcome by everyone at the shop and had a fantastic time choosing products which will benefit the children and young people we work with.

"When the products arrived at the project it was like Christmas Day. The children loved it and the staff were just as excited."
