Youngsters limber up for games event

TWO hundred and fifty children from across East and Midlothian are in training for the Lothian Games.

The youngsters have been taking part in workshops exploring how athletic shape and movement can be transposed into dance.

The workshops will culminate in a special performance for family members and teachers at Queen Margaret University on October 14.

The Lothian Games is part of the Games for Scotland programme, which has been designed to inspire, develop and support a range of events and activities across the country.

These events aim to celebrate Scotland's hosting of the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and coincide with the hand over of the Commonwealth Games flag in Delhi.

Deputy leader of East Lothian Council, Stuart MacKinnon, said: "This is a fantastic project that has enabled lots of people of all ages to celebrate Scotland's achievement at the Commonwealth Games this year and of being the host for the games in 2014."
