Young set to speak to ladies who lunch

Kirsty Young will be the guest speaker at this year's Ladies Spring Lunch at the city's Sheraton Hotel on March 4.

More than 300 women are expected to attend and all proceeds will go to Action Medical Research, which has been at the forefront of children's medical research for 60 years.

Mother-of-two Ms Young said: "From the day both my girls were born their health and wellbeing has come first. As a mum I know the work Action Medical Research does is invaluable in helping babies and children overcome the diseases and disabilities that can blight their young lives."

Action Medical Research has contributed to many of the milestones in child healthcare - the polio vaccine, ultrasound scanning in pregnancy, preventing spina bifida through taking folic acid during pregnancy, and protecting children from meningitis and rubella, to name but a few.
