Young folk star on song

A YOUNG folk musician from the Capital has been nominated for a top industry award.

Adam Holmes, 19, is in the running at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2011. The competition is open to anyone aged 15 to 20 who performs folk, roots or acoustic music in any culture as a band, duo or soloist.

The ceremony will take place on February 7 in London, with the top prize being the opportunity to record a session on the Mike Harding Show, Radio 2's weekly folk show, and to perform at top UK festivals, including the Cambridge Folk Festival.
