YMCA wins charity award

youth organisation YMCA Scotland has won the children and youth category at this year’s Charity Awards.

The Christian charity, which is based in Rutland Street, was recognised for its Plusone mentoring scheme, which works with people aged between eight and 14, to divert them from involvement with the youth justice system.

Peter Crory, national general secretary, said: “Getting this recognition from our peers is testament to the hard work and dedication from volunteers and staff across Scotland.”
