World record set for fuel efficiency lesson

A NEW world record was set yesterday for the “largest fuel efficiency lesson” undertaken by motorists.

More than 200 UK drivers were joined by thousands of motorists across the globe to set the lesson certified by Guinness World Records.

The event involved ten cities across Europe and Asia staging simultaneous training sessions in which motorists were able to learn how to save fuel and cut their driving costs.

The UK event was held at Potters Fields Park, near Tower Bridge in London and was hosted by TV motoring expert Quentin Willson and TV presenter Konnie Huq.

Record-setters were treated to a live performance from X Factor chart topper, Alexandra Burke.

Amarilis Whitty, Guinness World Records adjudicator, said of the achievement, organised by Shell: “As world record attempts go, this is one of the most informative I’ve witnessed.

“Now more than ever, it’s a hugely important topic for families and motorists across the world. I can now confirm that 204 people in the UK were present and attentive for the full 30-minute lesson on fuel saving.”
