World Press Photo Contest winners announced

STRIKING images of blind albino boys, survivors of typhoon Haiyan and African migrants with their phones were among the winners of the World Press Photo Contest 2014, which were announced yesterday.

The prize-winning pictures in the world’s largest annual press photography contest will be shown in an exhibition that travels through more than 45 countries starting in Amsterdam

Brent Stirton, working for Getty Images won the People - Staged Portraits Single category with a picture, above, of blind albino boys in their boarding room at the Vivekananda mission school for the blind in West Bengal.
