Way to atone?
Yom Kippur is the holiest day of the year for Jews and is the day of atonement and repentance. It is normally observed through 25-hours of prayer and fasting.
The day before, in a practice known as kaparot, Orthodox Jews swing a live chicken around the head of a person in the belief that sins will be transferred to the chicken which is then killed.
