War crimes tribunal gives verdict date

The UN war crimes court trying Charles Taylor for atrocities in Sierra Leone has announced it will deliver a verdict on 26 April, nearly five years after the former Liberian president went on trial in the Netherlands.

Taylor, the first African leader to go before an international tribunal, faces 11 counts of murder, rape, conscripting child soldiers and sexual slavery from civil war in the 1990s that killed more than 250,000 people.
