Uzbek leader Islam Karimov back in the public eye

UZBEK president Islam Karimov has made his first public appearance since rumours of his ill health emerged a week ago.

Mr Karimov was said to have met Kazakhstan’s foreign minister yesterday in the official residence of Oksaroy outside the capital Tashkent.
