US mother ‘kills her children to perform exorcism’
A Maryland woman accused of killing her two children told investigators that she was performing an exorcism, police have said.
Zakieya Latrice Avery told police that she believed she was removing the devil from her children. Police say another woman charged in the killings, Monifa Denise Sanford, made similar statements.
Police recovered two knives from the home after responding there Friday.
Two children, ages 1 and 2, were found dead. Two others were injured.
The women face charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
