Two killed at Italian celebrations

Two men were killed and 561 other people wounded as Italians celebrated the New Year with displays of illegal and homemade fireworks.

In Rome, a31-year-old man lit a large firecracker which exploded in his flat. The explosion set off the remaining fireworks, which killed him and wounded several others, including three children.
