Turkish delight: Scots firm gets green light for 300m tower

ARCHITECTURAL firm RMJM has received planning permission to build a tower that – at almost 300 metres high – will become one of Europe’s tallest.

The Edinburgh-headquartered practice won the commission through its Dubai office. It will be built in the Atasehir district of Turkey’s capital, Istanbul.

The tower will be at the centre of a new international financial zone in Istanbul afforded special status by the Turkish government. Jonathan Knight, design principal at RMJM, said the tower would symbolise “the dynamism and confidence of Turkey in 2012”.
