Three-legged alligator takes in golf tournament

GOLFING spectators and at least one marshal were startled when an alligator made an appearance during the Zurich Classic golf tournament in Louisiana, choosing to sun himself on the 12th fairway.

Observers said the alligator, estimated to be around 12 feet in length, was “Tripod,” a three-legged beast that has become somewhat of a regular at the course.

It’s not the strangest thing to have happened on an American golf course - last year, a live shark fell onto a golf course, with experts guessing that it had been dropped by a passing bird whilst in 2007, a Florida man narrowly avoided losing his arm after being bitten and dragged into a pond by an 11ft alligator.
