Sri Lanka urged to allow foreign probe

A UN human rights panel has urged Sri Lanka to accept an international inquiry into alleged abuses that occurred during the final weeks of the country’s decades-long civil war.

Sri Lanka has consistently rejected outside investigation of allegations of torture, rape and deliberate killing of civilians as its army crushed the Tamil Tiger rebellion.
